How to hire a nail technician

A nail technician does manicures, pedicures and enhancements — and the thing worth checking before anything else is how tools are sterilised.

Common questions

Is gel polish bad for your nails?

The polish itself is not the usual problem — improper removal is. Prying or scraping gel off takes layers of the nail plate with it. Proper soak-off removal, and occasional breaks, are what keep nails in good condition.

How do I know a nail salon is hygienic?

Tools should come from sealed sterilisation pouches or a visible autoclave, foot spas should be pipeless or lined and disinfected between clients, and files and buffers that cannot be sterilised should be new or yours. It is entirely reasonable to ask.

How long do acrylic or gel nails last?

Enhancements typically need a fill every two to three weeks as the natural nail grows out. Leaving them much longer changes the stress point on the nail and raises the chance of lifting and breakage.

How does Region Beacon work for nail technicians?

You describe the job once. The first nearby business that takes it gets your details and contacts you; nobody else does. You deal with whoever you pick directly, and you pay them directly — Region Beacon never handles the money and takes no commission, so nothing is added to your price for using it.

How do I know if a nail technician's quote is fair?

Get more than one. A single quote tells you what one business charges; three tell you what the job is worth where you live. Ask each for the same scope in writing, and treat a quote far below the others as probably missing something rather than a bargain.

Get quotes from nail technicians near you

Describe the job once and the first nearby business to take it contacts you. Only that one gets your details, no commission is added, and your details are not sold on to anyone.
